The Central
Bank of Madagascar (Malagasy: Banky Foiben'i Madagasikara; French: Banque
Centrale de Madagascar, BCM) is the central bank of Madagascar.
The bank's mission is to, in collaboration with the general government, and
in observation of the laws of finance, to maintain the general political
economy of Madagascar; and to maintain the national monetary reserves. Head
office of the bank are located in Antananarivo. |

Capital
markets that are capable of responding to the needs of the national economy,
and foster monetary, credit and financial conditions conducive to orderly,
balance and sustain economic growth and development. The management of the
Bank is conducted by an Executive Governor who is also Chairman of the Board
of Governors and a Deputy Governor who serves as principal assistant to the
Executive Governor. |

Central Bank of Madagascar's functions have evolved
to include the following:
 it has the
privilege of issuing banknotes and coins as legal tender in the territory of
Madagascar;
it is the
bank of banks;
it is the
bank of the State;
it manages
the national reserve currency;
it
guarantees the proper functioning of the banking and financial system;
it ensures
the proper functioning of the payments system; and
it
provides the Secretariat General of the Commission for Banking and Financial
Supervision.
