American bank holding company. The largest subsidiary is SunTrust Bank. It
had US$178.3 billion in assets as of June 30, 2012. SunTrust Bank's most
direct corporate parent was established in 1891 in Atlanta, where its
headquarters remain.
Through its flagship subsidiary, SunTrust Bank, the company provides
deposit, credit, trust and investment services to a broad range of retail,
business and institutional clients. Other subsidiaries provide mortgage
banking, insurance, brokerage, investment management, equipment leasing and
capital markets services.

retail branches and 2,900 ATMs are located primarily in Florida, Georgia,
