Soneri Bank Limited was formally incorporated on September 28, 1991. The first Branch commenced operations in Lahore on April 16, 1992, followed by the launch of Karachi's first Branch on May 09, 1992. The bank currently operates 216 branches, spread all over Pakistan including the Northern Areas of the country. The bank’s expansion policy is based on the principle of maintaining a balance between the urban and rural areas.

In order to ensure availability of basic banking facilities to business community, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has required the banks to select branches in various business centers/commercial hubs/ports etc. that will remain open on Saturdays. In order to comply with SBP directives, it has been decided that 50 Soneri Bank Limited branches shall remain open on Saturdays, while the Head Office and other administrative offices of the bank will remain closed. To ensure that opening of selected number of branches would also support the underlying objective of the Government to conserve energy, the branches opened on Saturdays would perform only those banking activities that will be absolutely necessary.
