SME Bank

 

The SME Bank was formed and incorporated as a public limited company under the Companies Ordinance 1984. The Government of Pakistan is the major Shareholder of the bank. As part of financial sector restructuring program of Government of Pakistan, Regional Development Finance Corporation (RDFC) and small Business Finance Corporation (SBFC) were amalgamated into SME Bank Ltd effective January 1, 2002.

SME bank Ltd was established to exclusively cater to the needs of the SME sector. it was created to address the needs of this niche market with specialized financial products and services that will help stimulate SME development and pro poor growth in the country.

SME Bank is committed to playing its strategic role in advancing the economic growth through market research, product development and lending while providing state-of-the-art services to SMEs.

 
 

At present SME Bank is going under restructuring phase to strengthen its capacity & realign its focus towards providing innovative products and services and to create conducive environment with a clear focus on acting as a catalyst for identifying and providing financial services to the SME sector in a manner that helps in their development.

To capitalize on the business opportunities available in the market SME Bank has signed off a deal with PIBAS for the deployment of Trade Finance, Swift, ATM, POS, Inter Branch Banking, Internet Banking. Telephone Banking and Mobile Banking modules at its branches/offices.

These modules shall enhance the banking services already provided by the bank to its customers through its network of nine branches.

 

It is envisaged that the SME Bank Restructuring supported by the Asian Development Bank will supplement other initiatives of the government and will go a long way to stimulate SME sector development in the country.
