Bank West is a chartered bank that was founded in High River, Alberta in 2002. The bank is wholly owned by Western Financial Group Inc. Western Financial Group originally focused in insurance consolidation, expanding into banking in 2002.

The company has been an aggressive consolidator of insurance agencies, and, as part of its longer term plan, the group has been working hard to expand and offer new and competitive financial products to its client base. It was this thought and this commitment that led to the creation of Bank West. The bank merged with and acquired Ubiquity Bank in November 2007 and Agrifinancial in February 2009. The bank maintains offices in both High River and Winnipeg.

Bank West is also a broker-based bank where it raise the deposits through a network of deposit brokers, including the financial services offices of the affiliated companies which operate under the name 'Western Financial Group.'

As the Bank don't have an expensive branch network system, it can offer interest rates on the deposit products that are often among the highest in the country. On the lending side of the business, the Bank focus is on conventional and insured residential first mortgages, commercial real estate, and farm real estate lending in the markets including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
